A horizon that only offers disarray

James Irwin lives and works in London. He graduated from Goldsmiths with an MFA in Computational Studio Arts in 2010 and will begin a practice based PhD at the Contemporary Art Research Centre, Kingston School of Art in October 2018.

Working across digital sound and image, printmaking and sculpture, he selects, records, translates and edits visual and aural material from a range of online and offline sources in order to locate the individual in a reality driven by algorithmic automation.

Recent group shows include Terms and Conditions May Apply (curated by Bob Bicknell-Knight, Annka Kultys Gallery, London, 2018), Home Alone (DateagleArt, London 2018) and How the mind comes to be furnished (a collaborative project with Lilah Fowler, Space in Between, 2016).
