Scott Pearce, Ambivalence Is Where The Heart Is, 2020

Scott Pearce is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Scotland. This is his first auto-ethnographic film and features his childhood home, amongst an Edinburgh council housing estate. The video is taken in a single shot, capturing a sense of time standing still.

Both meditative and frustrating, Ambivalence Is Where The Heart Is presents a sense of time lost, speaking poignantly about an enforced period trapped in the home. The home becomes both a familiar sanctuary and a claustrophobic environment where nothing ever changes.
