Laura Rouzet, The Feeling of Being, 2020

French artist based in London, Laura Rouzet’s practice intermingles choreographed body, moving image, text and sculpture, and is usually articulated under the form of performance and installation.

The Feeling of Being is a new body of work consisting in a digital assemblage of short performance, micro poems, GIF and digital compositions. The specificity of the format mirrors how the work has been made, and how processes of creating and performing have shifted during the lockdown, dealing with short attention span and physical restrictions.

Reflecting on how we relate between self, space and environment, the work ponders on the open question: What are we in the process of becoming?

Soundscape in collaboration with William Martin.

THE FEELING OF BEING EMPTY
LIKE THE CAVITY OF THE OYSTER
VISCOUS AND SHINY
ANXIOUS AND WOBBLY
THE KIND OF CAVITY
THAT ONLY SHINES IN THE DARK
DEAD … AND EMPTY
THE FEELING OF DISTORTION
OF BEING MULTIPLE AND APART
OF BEING SEPARATED FROM ME
SOMETIMES FROM YOU
THE FEELING OF NOT KNOWING
NOT KNOWING
DOES THIS LIMB BELONG TO 'WHO'?
